TELEFUNKEN

Gesellschaft für drahtlose Telegraphie systemu Telefunken

The amazing history of Telefunken begins in 1903 with the common project of two German companies linked with radio communication – AEG and Siemens. The company soon became a leading telegraphic and radio equipment provider for military and civilian use. The enterprise also produced vacuum lamps, computers and household appliances. In 1967 the company was ultimately dissolved, Telefunken brand rights sold.

A unique piece in our microphone menagerie. Beautifully preserved carbon microphone from the 1930s for hanging in a frame, hence, the handles on the sides. Thanks to Wojtek, we found out that the microphone, untagged with producer's logo, probably originates from Telefunken factory. A plastic base with switch, a “gooseneck” and a small microphone with the number 2962 suggest that the device was used for station, airport or conference communication.
